বীরভূমের সিউড়ি সুপার স্পেশালিটি হাসপাতাল চত্বরে প্রকাশ্যে এক মহিলার ওপর স্বামীর ধারালো অস্ত্র নিয়ে হামলায় চাঞ্চল্য ছড়াল। চিকিৎসার জন্য হাসপাতালে আসা স্ত্রীকে এলোপাথাড়ি কুপিয়ে খুনের চেষ্টা করে স্বামী, তবে নিরাপত্তারক্ষীদের তৎপরতায় প্রাণে বেঁচে যান ওই মহিলা।
পুলিশ সূত্রে জানা গেছে, আক্রান্ত মহিলার নাম পূর্ণিমা লোহার, এবং হামলাকারী স্বামী অমর কর্মকার। বহুদিন ধরেই তাদের দাম্পত্য জীবনে অশান্তি চলছিল। বেশ কয়েক মাস আগে স্বামীর বাড়ি কুলেরা ছেড়ে পূর্ণিমা চলে যান বাবার বাড়ি, মহম্মদবাজারের কাপিষ্ঠা গ্রামে।
ঘটনার দিন পূর্ণিমা তাঁর মাকে সঙ্গে নিয়ে হাসপাতালে চিকিৎসা করাতে এসেছিলেন। সেই সময় আচমকাই হাজির হয় অমর, এবং কোনও কথা না বলেই ধারালো অস্ত্র দিয়ে গলায় ও বুকে একের পর এক আঘাত হানতে থাকে।
চিৎকার শুনে ছুটে আসেন হাসপাতালের নিরাপত্তারক্ষীরা। তাঁরা সাহসিকতার সঙ্গে অমরকে ধরে ফেলেন এবং আহত পূর্ণিমাকে উদ্ধার করে দ্রুত হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করান। পরে অমর কর্মকারকে পুলিশের হাতে তুলে দেওয়া হয়।
এই ঘটনায় ব্যাপক চাঞ্চল্য ছড়িয়েছে হাসপাতালে। আহত পূর্ণিমার শারীরিক অবস্থা স্থিতিশীল বলে জানা গেছে। অভিযুক্তের বিরুদ্ধে খুনের চেষ্টার মামলা রুজু করে তদন্ত শুরু করেছে সিউড়ি থানার পুলিশ।
